The invention relates to a room sound absorber (1) for positioning in front of a reverberant sound reflection surface (2) of a building or a piece of furniture, comprising a non-reverberant insulation material panel (4) made of a porous rigid or flexible foam for sound attenuation by means of absorbing sound waves. According to the invention, an adjoining sound attenuating area (5') is arranged on at least one face (8, 8') of the insulation material panel (4), which area has a different sound propagation speed, different density, and/or different flow resistance to sound waves compared to the insulation material panel (4). Preferably, a first sound attenuation area (5') is formed by a soft fiber panel (6), and a second sound attenuation area (5') is formed by an air cushion (7). The soft fiber panel (6) and the air cushion (7) are provided on different faces (8, 8') of the insulation material panel (4). |
