An electric booster brake assist system for an electric vehicle comprises an electric vehicle auxiliary power supply (1), a vacuum pump (2), a brake vacuum booster (3) and a vacuum air tank (4). Said brake vacuum booster (3) is connected with the vacuum air tank (4) by vacuum pipelines (5), and then connected with the vacuum pump (2) by the vacuum pipelines (5). Said vacuum air tank (4) is provided with a vacuum pressure detector (6) connected with a vacuum pump delay control switch (7) which is electrically connected with the electric vehicle auxiliary power supply (1) and the vacuum pump (2). Said brake assist system detects the vacuum pressure of the vacuum air tank (4) by the vacuum pressure detector (6). When the pressure of the vacuum air tank (4) is below a set value, the system does not immediately cut off the power supply of the electric vacuum pump (2), but enables the electric vacuum pump (2) to continue to work until a set delay time, and enables the pressure of the vacuum air tank (4) to continue to reduce, thereby keeping the pressure of the vacuum air tank (4) stable and ensuring vacuum booster efficiency when braking at any time.
