PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plastic clad optical fiber core low in transmission loss associated with bend even when bent in a small diameter as a USB cable or HDMI cable, and sufficiently usable even for high-speed transmission, and an optical fiber cable. SOLUTION: The plastic clad optical fiber core 1 includes a clad layer 3 located in an outer periphery of core glass 2 formed of quartz glass and formed of a polymer resin low in a refractive index relative to that of the core glass, and a resin coating layer 5 formed of a thermoplastic resin in the outer periphery of the clad layer. The core diameter of the core glass 2 is 50-100μm, and the relative refractive index difference between the core glass and the clad layer is≥3.7%. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
