PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protein having human-derived glycosaminoglycan decomposition activity with no fear of mixing of a protease and the like as a drug or the like instead of chondroitinase produced by microorganisms; and a method for producing a functional oligosaccharide using this protein. SOLUTION: The glycosaminoglycan decomposition promotor includes a protein comprising an amino acid sequence shown in sequence ID No.1 or a protein comprising an amino acid sequence shown in sequence ID No.1 in which one or several tens of amino acids are substituted, deleted or added, and having activity of hydrolyzing the N-acetyl-D-galactosaminide bonding of sulfated N-acetyl-D-galactosamine bonded to D-glucuronic acid as an active ingredient.
