PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sound processing apparatus which suppresses a howling phenomenon with sufficient accuracy. SOLUTION: The sound processing apparatus includes: a power spectrum arithmetic operation unit 32 which acquires a power spectrum of a sound signal; an envelope component removal unit 33 which removes envelope components of the power spectrum to generate signal characteristics showing peakness of the power spectrum; a filter characteristic calculation unit 34 which uses the signal characteristics to calculate filter characteristics for suppressing the signal characteristics; and a suppression filter which filters the sound signal dependingly on the filter characteristics. In another embodiment, the sound processing apparatus is applicable, for example, to the sound processing apparatus which suppresses the howling phenomenon. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
