Disclosed are a device and method for generating RGB array data from an imaging signal using an imaging element which has an RGBW array. An edge detector acquires edge information corresponding to each pixel by analysing the output signal of the imaging element which has an RGBW array, and a texture detector generates texture information. In addition, parameter calculation sections generate parameters corresponding to interpolated pixel values by executing interpolation processing in which the positions of applicable pixels are altered in accordance with the edge directions corresponding to converted pixels. A blend processing section takes as input the parameters generated by the parameter calculation sections, the edge information and the texture information, and, in accordance with the edge information and texture information corresponding to the converted pixels, determines converted pixel values by performing blend processing in which the blend ratio of the parameters calculated by the parameter calculation sections are altered.
