<p>Provided is a means whereby the attachment pattern of a sensor, which can be attached, in either upward or downward direction, to a device body, can be determined and a substance to be detected in a biosample can be accurately detected. A blood sugar-measurement device (10) is provided with a biosensor (11) which is in the shape of a sheet consisting of a first face (21) and a second face (22) respectively as the front and back faces and comprises a space (40) into which blood is to be introduced. The biosensor (11) is attached to a connection (13) of a device body (12) in a detachable manner either in a first pattern wherein the first face (21) is on the front side or in a second pattern wherein the second face (22) is on the front side. A controller (55) determines whether a first terminal (61) or a second terminal (62) electrically contacts with a connection terminal (39) of a third electrode (27) depending on the electrical state of the first terminal (61) or the second terminal (62) and thus measures blood sugar level by using one of a first electrode (24) and a second electrode (26) as a positive electrode and the other as a negative electrode.</p> |
