PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve problems associated with a prior art catalyst for combusting particulates, that a harmful nitrogen oxide is required as an auxiliary oxidation agent for use in the combustion to reduce the combustion temperature of particulates and that the peak of the combustion temperature goes up subsequent to its long term exposure to heat.
SOLUTION: There is disclosed a composite oxide catalyst of a spinel structure for combusting particulates including at least Cu, Mg and Mn, which catalyst allows particulates to combust at a low temperature and is free of a rise of the combustion temperature of particulates subsequent to its long term exposure to heat. The composite oxide preferably contains the metallic components as follows: 0.3≤Cu≤0.5, 0<Mg≤0.3, and 0.4≤Mn≤0.7.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
