PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an adsorbing/decomposing material which more efficiently perform the carrying of metal by controlling pore characteristics of a carrier in a conventional metal carrying method, and has the high removing performance of a volatile organic compound. SOLUTION: The material for adsorbing/decomposing volatile organic compound has, as a carrier, activated carbon fiber having BET specific surface area of 800-2,000 m<SP>2</SP>/g, an average pore diameter of 10-19Å, and a total pore volume of 0.4-1.0 cm<SP>3</SP>/g, and carries a metal catalyst.
