PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To utilize a measured refrigerant temperature for controlling in measuring the refrigerant temperature in a side flow type parallel flow heat exchanger. SOLUTION: The heat exchanger 1 includes: two vertical header pipes 2, 3 arranged in parallel at a space; a plurality of horizontal flat tubes 4 arranged between the header pipes 2, 3 and allowing refrigerant passages 5 provided inside to communicate with the inside of the header pipes 2, 3; and corrugated fins 6 arranged between the flat tubes 4. The flat tube 4 is composed to form one or more turns, and a thermosensitive element 11 for detecting the refrigerant temperature is arranged in a part through which a refrigerant in a gas-liquid two-phase condition flows inside the header pipe 3 on the refrigerant piping connection side.
