PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operation monitoring and diagnosing method for correctly diagnosing the operational condition of a main steam turbine for a marine use by eliminating the fluctuation of a turbine output and an effect of external factors. SOLUTION: The operation monitoring and diagnosing method includes (a) a step S1 of continuously acquiring operational data on the operational condition as time series data, (b) a step S3 of acquiring the output data on the turbine output of the main steam turbine for the marine use as the time series data, (c) a step S7 of optionally designating the period for diagnosis, (d) a step S9 of extracting the data in the designated period out of the output data, (e) a step S13 of displaying a relationship between the output data and the operational data in the designated period as "the graph of a turbine output and an operational condition", and (f) a step S21 of diagnosing the suitability of the operational condition from "the graph of the turbine output and the operational condition".
