The system has a reel for inserting an inspection mechanism e.g. video camera, into a sewer pipe. The reel comprises a supporting frame (2) and a cage (4) that is rotatably held at the supporting frame. A sliding bar is wound on the cage. The cage is fastened to the supporting frame by a detachable clutch in a removable manner. A brake mechanism e.g. brake disk, is arranged at the supporting frame for braking rotating motion of the cage. A length measuring device is arranged at the frame for measuring length of wound parts of the sliding bar.
