The metering valve has a rotary valve, which is perpendicular to the axis of rotation. A flow through hole (38) opens the valve by turning the rotary valve on a passage (4). The housing (2) has a screen element (24) downstream to the flow through hole and a dosage orifice in the form of a slit opening (44). The dosage orifice extends perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the rotary valve.
