PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a generator of a plasma arc, that can suppress dissolved loss of an anode and stabilize a flame by setting a plasma arc landing point arbitrarily, and to provide a generation method therefor. SOLUTION: The plasma arc generator comprises a body 1, having a plurality of supply passages 1a for gas and a chamber 1b, a cathode 2 disposed in the chamber 1b, the anode 3 of conductive material disposed coaxially with the cathode 2, and a supply tube 4 for supplying a powder or wire of thermal spraying material directed toward the front of a terminal end of the anode 3. An internal passage 3a is formed as to tapered passage, whose passage section tapers at a uniform angle from the cathode side exposed to the chamber 1b to the terminal end side. A plasma arc 5 immediately in front of landing converges on the center of the internal passage 3a in the presence of a swirl flow of gas, and since the turning force of gas is large and remains undamped, even at the terminal end of the anode 3, it lands stably in an annular form on the wall surface of the internal passage 3a near the terminal end of the anode 3. |
