<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a card socket having a structure in which lowering its height is made possible. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A first switch piece 610 out of the first switch piece 610 and a second switch piece 620 which compose a detecting switch for detecting insertion/ejection of a card is integrally formed with a cover 500. The second switch piece 620 is retained by an insulator 700 for retaining a switch piece. The insulator 700 for retaining a switch piece is supported by a metal member to be assembled with the cover 500.
