[Also in Division B1] Methylamines are catalytically synthesized by reacting excess ammonia with methanol and/or dimethyl ether, at a pressure of atmospheric to 500 p.s.i.g. and at 200-500‹ C. using a catalyst comprising silicon-alumina co-precipitate gel impregnated with a trace amount of silver phosphate, rhenium heptasulphide, molybdenum sulphide and cobalt sulphide, the gel having been partially deactivated with steam prior to impregnation.</p> |
