Method for branching a pipe on a conduit for transfering fluid and branched conduit

The procedure for fitting a supporting branch (3) for an auxiliary component such as a valve or pressure gauge to a rigid or semirigid fluid transfer pipe (1) with at least an outer layer (4) of a plastic material uses a connecting cover (7) of the same material on the end of the branch which is sealed to the pipe by vibration welding with no added material. The connecting cover has a base (9) in the shape of a portion of a cylinder covering an angle of 90 degrees and is reinforced e.g. with glass or textile fibres; its inner surface has a collar with a groove surrounding the branch aperture, and the cover and branch can be injection moulded in one piece. The hole in the pipe is pierced through the branch's central channel (5) after it has been fitted.
