[Also in Division H2] In a commutator segment, of the kind comprising a pair of parts 7a, 8a and having a pair of arms 11a, 12a upstanding from the brush contacting surface 9a, a third part 15 engages with the arms 11a,12a for the attachment of the ends of the armature conductors. The part 15 can be in the form of a closed loop or an open loop with the ends of the loop trapped between the arms. The segment is punched from a strip (6a, Fig. 3, not shown). Commutator construction.-The segments may be separated by insulating material and secured together by a commutator cone. The finished commutator is then dip-soldered to hold the parts together and the brush contacting surface 9a is machined. |
