METHOD OF EFFICIENT RANGING PROCEDURE CONSIDERING RANGING PURPOSE IN A BROADBAND WIRELESS ACCESS SYSTEM

PURPOSE: An efficient ranging method depending on a purpose in a broadband wireless access system is provided to perform a ranging procedure more efficiently with a low overhead. CONSTITUTION: A first ranging code is transmitted to a base station through a first ranging opportunity of a first frame(S101), and a first message includes the response for the first ranging code. A timer indicates a limit time point at which the first message is transferred. The first message is received from the base station until the time of the timer is expired(S102), and the first message is used to judge whether or not the ranging request is successful.
