A gaming apparatus 100 for operating a game played using a touch screen device comprises a housing 104, an activation means 102, 103 and an interaction means 106. The housing is configured to maintain the touch screen device in an operable position. The activation means 102, 103 is connected to the interaction means 106, such that upon application of a pressure to the activation means, the activation means operates the interaction means to cause a contact of the interaction means with the screen of the device, thus inducing an operative effect on the device to control the game. In a preferred embodiment the device is a touch screen media player, or a touch screen telecommunications device such as an iPhone (RTM). The activation means may comprise a button or trigger, and the interaction means may comprise a hammer which contacts the touch screen. The housing may include a casing which holds the device (see fig. 2). The connection between the activation means and interaction means may be mechanical or electrical. The apparatus may be in the form of a simulated gun having a trigger activation means, or a steering wheel having a button activation means (see fig. 4). |
