A line for assembly and welding side wall of gondola cars comprises a stand for assembly and welding the wall in a normal position and a stand for assembly and welding the wall in the reverse position, which are made in the form of horizontal frames with basing and clamping elements attached thereto, portals for welding longitudinal joints and a portal for welding transverse joints. The stand for assembly and welding the wall in a normal position and the stand for assembly and welding of the wall in the reverse position are parallel to each other. A stand-tilter is located between the stands with possibility of interaction of rotary levers in their extreme positions with the horizontal frames of stands, guides for displacement of portals for welding longitudinal joints and the portal for welding transverse joints are mounted on longitudinal supports of different height, two of which are located along the outer sides of stands under their horizontal frames, while two other higher supports are located on the stand-tilter.
