In a rope braiding machine comprising a number of carrier discs 7 driving bobbin carriers 2 around horizontal closed loops, one end of each bobbin carrier has a pinion 21 rotatable about an axis fixed in relation to the carrier, the pinion meshing with a stationary horizontal rack 22 which controls the angular position of the pinion axis as it travels around the loop. Each bobbin carrier is disposed so that the greatest dimension of its bobbin is disposed parallel to the loop axis. The carrier moving mechanism may be that described in Specification 987, 562. |
