METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR VIDEO QUALITY ASSESSMENT

PURPOSE: A method and device thereof are provided to measure image quality without any information about an original image by using information included in mage data within a bit string inside a receiving side. CONSTITUTION: An image quality measuring method includes as follow: a step of receiving video data; a step of obtaining a discrete cosine transform coefficient and a quantization parameter included in video data; a step of generating a frequency component histogram of video data by using the discrete cosine transform coefficient; a step of generating a histogram which models to a Gaussian function histogram; a step of computing a quantization distortion amount per frequency component of video data by using the modeled histogram modeled and the quantization parameter.
