The process involves making contact of gas with regenerated absorbing solution comprising active compounds in aqueous solution to produce treated gas and absorbing solution charged with hydrogen sulfide. The solution charged with hydrogen sulfide is introduced into a thermal regeneration column (C2) to produce regenerated absorbing solution. Heat is injected in bottom of the column, where quantity of heat injected into the column is controlled according result of comparison of hydrogen sulfide charging rate of the regenerated solution and a reference value. The active compounds are selected among amines and inorganic bases.
