PURPOSE: A rechargeable battery is provided to ensure high sealing stability since a sealing layer is formed in a current collector, to prevent the leakage of electrolyte and to improve volume comparison output characteristic. CONSTITUTION: A rechargeable battery comprises bipolar electrodes(10) and separators arranged between the bipolar electrodes. The bipolar electrodes includes a current collector(11), a sealing layer(15) formed at the edge of the current collector, a first electrode active material layer(13) inserted into a groove(12) in which the sealing layer is not formed, wherein the groove is formed inside the sealing layer, and a second electrode active material layer(14) formed at the side opposite to the first electrode active material layer.
