The method involves requesting, to a stability control system (20) of a motor vehicle, an offset of the vehicle towards sides of a less dangerous path in the case of high directivity loss of the vehicle, where the stability control system acts on wheel brakes to bring the vehicle to a trajectory requested by a driver of the vehicle. A vehicle positioning unit (8) is connected to a vehicle information system i.e. cartography device (10), to infer a state of danger of the sides of the path during an accidental release of the path. An independent claim is also included for a stability control system for intervention of a motor vehicle in a trajectory.
