PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic leveling device of a vehicle headlamp, capable of achieving appropriate leveling control of a lamp optical axis following a vehicle height change in a vehicle. SOLUTION: The auto leveling device includes: a headlamp HL; a vehicle height sensor SH for detecting a vehicle height of a vehicle; and leveling control means 1 of vertically controlling the deflection a lamp optical axis LA of the headlamp based on a detected output of the vehicle height sensor. The auto leveling device calculates a pitch angle of the vehicle based on the detection of the vehicle height sensor and controls the deflection of the lamp optical axis based on the pitch angle. A means 11 of calculating a pitch angle includes a pitch angle calculating means 111 which calculates a pitch angle difference between pitch angles obtained this time and last time and outputs a pitch angle for performing leveling control based on a comparative result between the calculated difference and a threshold value (112), and a threshold value changing means 113 of changing the threshold value according to a change in the detected vehicle height.
