PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reliably prevent contaminations from depositing on a detection switch and precisely detect a card, and also has a simple structure and facilitate assembly at low cost while allowing miniaturization and enhancing reliability. SOLUTION: A card connector has: a housing to house a card having a terminal member; a connection terminal mounted on the housing and contacted with the terminal member of the card; and a cover member which is mounted on the housing and which forms a card housing space against the housing. Furthermore, the connector for the card also has: a detection switch which detects contact between the terminal member of the card inserted into the card housing space and the connection terminal; a switch housing space which is formed in the housing and which houses a detection switch; and a movable cover member deployed at the housing so as to close a connection opening communicating the card housing space with the switch housing space.
