The device has a gap seal (5) separating high pressure side and low pressure side, and is provided between a piston rod (3) and a piston rod guide (4). The piston rod is longitudinally guided through the piston rod guide and projected from a vibration damping cylinder (1). A lip seal (6) separates the low pressure side and an ambient pressure side and stays in sliding contact with the piston rod. The lip seal reverses defined displacement path opposite to the gap seal with the piston rod, and is hydraulic sealably-connected with the vibration damping cylinder through the piston rod guide.
