A colour photographic material comprises a paper support carrying a light-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer containing a colour coupler, there being provided before the coating of the said layer a non-fluorescent ultraviolet-absorbing organic compound incorporated into the paper or a layer containing such an organic compound on the paper, wherein the quantity of the compound is such that not more than 25% of the total U.V. between 360m Á and 400mÁ incident thereon is reflected. The reflectance may also be less than 10% between 350m Á and 380m Á and over 60% between 420 and 500mÁ Specified organic compounds are substituted benzotriazoles and thiazolidones, many of which are listed. The organic compound may be disposed in gelatine, a polyolefin, a cellulose ester, a polyvinyl acetal, or hydrolysed polyvinyl acetate. Various colour couplers are specified and the emulsion layer may also contain sensitizing dyes, chemical sensitizers, antifoggants, hardeners, dispersing agents for the colour couplers, and antistain agents. The material may carry three light-sensitive silver halide layers, each sensitized to a different primary colour and each containing the complementary-colour coupler. The emulsion layers may be of the packet-emulsion type.
