<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pedestrian detection system capable of enhancing detecting accuracy for a pedestrian without adding massive processing. <P>SOLUTION: The pedestrian detection system equipped with a pedestrian detecting part 20 for detecting the pedestrian based on an image acquired by imaging with an infrared camera 10 comprises a correlation value detecting part, in which the pedestrian detecting part 20 executes matching of the image with a template representing the outline of the pedestrian stored in advance and obtains the correlation value with this template, a high correlation region detecting part, for detecting the image range highest possible for the correlation value to regard it as the pedestrian candidate among the images, and a choice making part for obtaining the average value of the height of a plurality of the pedestrian candidates on the image, determining whether the pedestrian candidate is appropriate or not and executing choice making processing to discard the inappropriate from the pedestrian candidates based on this average value and the height of each of the pedestrian candidates on the image. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
