PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for updating a program for a vehicle, which can make a user adequately determine the execution of program update. SOLUTION: The device 1 for updating a program for a vehicle communicates with a vehicle 3 and updates a program of the vehicle 3 via communication. In addition, the device includes an update processing part 13 which obtains risk information on a vehicle function which becomes unusable when updating the program 36 to be updated is not normally completed on the basis of program data for updating or a kind of the program 36 to be updated, and then provides the vehicle 3 with the risk information before the program 36 to be updated is updated. By this, a user can determines whether the update should be executed or not by assuming that the vehicle function becomes unusable when the update is not normally completed.
