<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spindle device of a machine tool capable of suppressing occurrence of chatter vibration in various of rotating tools. <P>SOLUTION: A dumping force imparted by damp imparting means 5, 134 is controlled based on the kinds of the rotating tools T to change damping property of a rear side rolling bearing 133, so that optimum damping property is given to various kinds of the rotating tools with different specific vibrations, and the occurrence of the chatter vibration of the variety of the rotating tools is suppressed.
