PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a metallic package or the like which is excellent in airtight performance while satisfying recent environmental requirements by using lead-free glass and creating a sealing material having good thermal stability and a high thermal expansion coefficient. SOLUTION: The sealing material contains glass powder and crystalline powder, wherein the glass powder does not substantially contain PbO, and contains one or two or more kinds of calcium fluoride, cristobalite and tridymite as the crystalline powder.
