PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reuse an external storage device and information on the external storage device when an information processor is discarded or fails, while allowing only a specific information processor to use information stored in the external device. SOLUTION: An external storage system includes: an external storage device 1 allowing optional information to be stored therein; an information processor 2 which has unique information 8 and processes information stored in the external storage device 1; and a CPU 10 which stores Key information 6 generated based on the unique information 8 into the external storage device 1 and, when at least the Key information 6 in the external storage device 1 is initialized or the Key information 6 matches the unique information 8, performs control such that the information processor 2 processes information stored in the external storage device 1. When the information processor 2 is discarded or fails to change the unique information 8, the CPU 10 initializes at least Key information 6 of the external storage device 1, and prohibits the operation of the information processor 2.
