Electron linear accelerators are used for generating X-rays for tumor treatment. Efficient irradiation of the tumor can be ensured only if the electron beam is guided precisely and the required dosage profile is thereby applied. The placement of the ideal path of the electron beam is measured by means of so-called beam position monitors and then corrected by means of magnets. According to the invention, the placement of the electron beam is measured in a drift tube of the linear accelerator, wherein the wave to be decoupled comprises a frequency range corresponding to a multiple of the base frequency of the acceleration field. The invention relates to coupling probes, a mixer-based receiving concept having high dynamic response and sensitivity, a method for analyzing the measurement signals, and a calibration method for calibrating nonlinearities. Interferences due to the acceleration field are minimized by the measurement method according to the invention and the frequency range to be analyzed. The high analysis frequencies allow geometrically small coupling probes that can be inserted into a drift tube in which only the field of the electron beam to be analyzed is present. |
