PURPOSE: A computer system and a control method thereof are provided to extend the durability of a battery by activating/inactivating a power management mode according to the operation of a communication unit. CONSTITUTION: A communication unit(120) performs network communication with an external device by receiving operation power from a battery(130), and a control unit(110) confirms the communication operation of the communication unit. If the communication unit does not perform the communication operation, the control unit controls the communication unit to decrease the power supplied to the communication unit. If the communication unit performs the communication operation, the control unit does not reduce the operation power supplied to the communication unit.
