PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To further simplify the constitution of a low-pass filter part and thereby to attain low power consumption, in a counter (frequency measuring device) of a short gate time count system. SOLUTION: The device for measuring a frequency includes a counter part (10), which counts a supplied pulse-train-form measuring object signal consecutively at a prescribed time interval and outputs a counted value train corresponding to the frequency of the signal, and the low-pass filter part (20), which processes the counted value train by filtering. The low-pass filter part is constituted of a plurality of stages of moving average filters (21, 22 and 23) and is constituted so that the sampling frequency of fetching of data in the moving average filter of each stage is lower, from the filter of the initial stage over to that of the final stage.
