PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge lamp for a vehicle with a shade for light distribution control mounted, capable of facilitating removal or replacement of the shade for changing light distribution characteristics or the like. SOLUTION: The discharge lamp for the vehicle includes an external lead pole 64 arranged in parallel with an arc tube 61 at a side of the tube, a base 66 (a connector) made by supporting a terminal of the other pinch sealing part 63b of the arc tube and a terminal of the external lead pole, and having a first electric contact electrically connected with an external lead wire 65b led out from the other pinch sealing part, and a second electric contact electrically connected with the terminal of the external lead pole, an outer tube 68 covering the arc tube and the external lead pole and fixed to the base (the connector), and a shade 69 for light distribution control, adhered to the outer tube and mounted in free detachment on the outer tube.
