摘要 The present invention provides latent heat storage materials having enhanced fire-retardant properties. These include compositions of magnesia cement and a phase change material in which the magnesia cement is formed from magnesium oxide, magnesium chloride, and water. The molar ratio of magnesium chloride to water may be in the range of about 1:17 to 1:32. The magnesium chloride may be dissolved in the water to give a solution having a Baumé in the range between 15° and 26°. The molar ratio of magnesium chloride to magnesium oxide may be in the range of about 1:1 to about 1:5, and the latent heat storage material may additionally comprises fillers, and/or intumescent agents. The phase change material may be a microencapsulated formulation. A process for making these compositions is disclosed.
