<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust gas treatment apparatus which can efficiently reduce the amount of volatile organic compounds (VOC) contained in exhaust gas 51 discharged from a painting booth 5 and the like. <P>SOLUTION: The exhaust gas treatment apparatus 10 includes a collection water storage chamber 1, a gas-liquid mixer 21 and a horizontal gas-liquid cyclone 22 disposed on the collection water storage chamber 1, and a vertical vaporizing cylinder 3 with an air diffuser 35. The gas-liquid mixer 21 includes a plural stages of plate-like porous bodies (air filters for coarse dust) 211-1 to 211-4, and a plurality of nozzles 212 for supplying water 56 to the whole surface of a highest-stage plate-like porous body 211-1, and partially collects the VOC by bringing the exhaust gas 51 into contact with the water 56. Collection water 56A discharged from the gas-liquid cyclone 22 is sent to the top of the vaporizing cylinder 3 through the collection water storage chamber 1.
