PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an external structure which exhibits excellent various characteristics, especially harmful gas decomposability, upkeep property of self-cleaning performance based on photocatalytic hydrophilic nature for a long period of time and weatherability, while inhibiting an erosion into a base material, especially an organic base material. SOLUTION: The external structure includes a base material and a photocatalytic layer formed on the base material. In addition, the photocatalytic layer is composed mainly of 3 mass% or over to less than 5 mass% of a photocatalytic particle and 85 mass% or over to less than 97 mass% of an inorganic oxide particle, when assuming the whole photocatalytic layer to be 100 mass%.
