<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controller for a hybrid vehicle capable of avoiding generation of engine stall by advance control based on appropriate prediction of engine stall generation during deceleration in an HEV drive mode for driving by drive force of an engine and a motor. <P>SOLUTION: A drive system includes: an engine Eng, a motor/generator MG, an automatic transmission AT, a first clutch CL1, and a second clutch CL2. The FR hybrid vehicle performs a coast-down shift which changes a transmission ratio of the automatic transmission AT to the lowest speed ratio upon deceleration of the vehicle (step S9 in Fig.5), predicts whether or not an engine stall occurs during a travel in the "HEV drive mode" based on the vehicle deceleration and the coast-down shift state (step S10 and step S11 in Fig.5), and disengages the first clutch CL1 when the occurrence of the engine stall is predicted (step S12 in Fig.5). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
