<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which can improve the workability of setting of a sheet roll, setting of a manuscript and the like, can reduce the size of an apparatus body (machine), and can prevent damage such as contamination and hit marks to the sheet roll which is concerned at the time of replacement working, by simplifying a layout constitution by devising a relative positional relationship of a sheet roll supporting unit, an image forming unit, an image reading unit etc. and the shape of a sheet roll replacement opening without adopting a complicate configuration such as a housing configuration of a drawer type. <P>SOLUTION: Center positions 4a1 and 4b1 of upper and lower sheet rolls 4a and 4b set on respective flange cradles 5a and 5b of upper and lower two steps are offset in a front-rear direction X of the apparatus body 1.
