PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately calculate the boiler room efficiency of a coal-fired power plant. SOLUTION: The amount of moisture included in coal is measured, the higher calorific power of coal is calculated on the basis of the measured amount of moisture included in coal, the specified higher calorific power of coal and a coal supply amount for a prescribed period, the amount of moisture and hydrogen-containing exhaust gas for a prescribed period is calculated on the basis of the amount of moisture included in coal and a hydrogen component of the coal, the amount of the exhaust gas for the prescribed period is determined by measuring the amount of exhaust gas of a boiler, the amount of dry exhaust gas of the boiler for the prescribed period is calculated by subtracting the moisture and hydrogen-containing exhaust gas for the prescribed period from the amount of exhaust gas for the prescribed period, the heat loss amount of dry exhaust gas for the prescribed period is determined on the basis of the amount of dry exhaust gas for the prescribed period, the heat loss amount of the moisture and hydrogen component for the prescribed period is determined on the basis of the amount of moisture and hydrogen-containing exhaust gas for the prescribed period, and the boiler room efficiency is determined on the basis of the heat loss amount of dry exhaust gas for the prescribed period, the heat loss amount of moisture and hydrogen contents for the prescribed period, and the higher calorific power of coal.
