PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To print an image without a relative positional deviation on a printing medium. SOLUTION: The shape of edges of a paper P as the printing medium is detected, and the present positions of the edges are detected at the time when the image is printed on the paper P. The attitude of the paper P is decided on the basis of a profile that shows the shape of edges and the detected positions of edges. Printing on the paper P is carried out by inclining the image in the transport direction of the paper P on the basis of the decided result. The attitude of the paper P can be decided taking the shape of edges of the paper P into consideration. By printing on the paper P while inclining the image in the transport direction of the paper P on the basis of the attitude of the paper P, the image without a relative positional deviation can be printed on the paper P.
