1,135,805. Wells etc.; piles. A. G. BODINE. 14 Feb., 1966, No. 6447/66. Headings E1F and E1H. A method of forming an elongated body (e.g. a borehole or tunnel lining, or a hollow pile) comprises feeding fluent hardening material (e.g. concrete) into a parallel space between an elongated, elastic slip form die and a fixed die (e.g. the ground), vibrating the slip form die until the material has hardened, and after hardening removing the slip form die. The formation of a lined borehole is shown, the slip form die 11 in accordance with Specification 1039645 being of steel and carrying a vibration generator 40a, 40b. The die 11 may be vibrated as it is withdrawn from the borehole. The die 11 may be vibrated and driven into the ground to produce the borehole, and a releasable drive cap of larger diameter than the die may be fitted at the dies lower end. |
