A method is disclosed for remote control of an automatic livestock milking system comprising a milking device and computer means, the method comprising the steps of: obtaining information about said milking device (2) and/or said animals from said computer means, creating a data set containing the obtained information about said milking device (2) and/or animals, establishing a connection between the automatic milking system (1) and a remote control unit (8), customizing said data set to a property of the connection between the automatic milking system and the remote control unit, and transmitting the customized data set to the remote control unit (8).
