METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PERFORMING HARQ IN MULTIPLE CARRIER SYSTEM

A method and an apparatus for performing HARQ in a multiple carrier system are provided. A terminal generates an ACK/NACK (Acknowledgement/Non-acknowledgement) signal for a codeword that is transmitted via each component carrier out of plural component carriers (CCs), and transmits the ACK/NACK signal. Each ACK/NACK signal indicates one of an ACK state which indicates that the codeword is decoded, a NACK state which indicates that the codeword is not decoded and a discontinuous transmission (DTX) state which indicates that transmission of each component carrier is not acknowledged.
