The positioning aid has an adaptation surface for fastening to an articulator, and a retention surface for an upper jaw base shell. Distance between the adaptation and retention surfaces is made according to cephalometric view points. The upper jaw base shell is positioned at a center of the articulator and in an axial-orbital plane. An upper jaw model is attached to the base shell over a transfer bracket in the articulator. A position of an upper jaw at a cranium is recognized when the upper jaw model is positioned in the base shell.
